Identity Crisis

So, internets.  I’m having some blogblock.  It’s happened before, certainly, but this time is different.  This time, as in most things lately in my life, I’m taking the time to try and figure out the reason behind the problem, rather than trying to fix it by making some sort of deal with myself, which I will of course, break.  Deals, they are for breaking.

I think my blog is having an identity crisis.  “Am I a craft blog? A special-needs Mommyblog? A Baltimore blog? A natural parenting blog?  A music blog?  An art blog?”

And of course, the answer, up until now, has been yes.  Resounding yesses to all of the above.  Obviously, I want to write about different topics now and again, and I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that, but I am easily overwhelmed by all the possibilities that exist up there in that list.  And right after the overwhelmed part comes the not writing part.  And the dusty blog part.

I feel as though the bloggers I admire combat this (partly) by devoting certain days of the week to certain topics.  You know, Mosaic Monday, Thrifty Thursday, Wordless Wednesday, etc.  I can’t tell if this would help me or make things worse.  I tried a while back to do a podcast, which I think would have helped this problem, but I can’t get it to work without paying, which I cannot do.

I’m considering some different options.  I guess this post is a request to bear with me.  Or, more accurately, continue to bear with me.

Thank you for reading, and I hope to see you here again.

  1. I”ve had this problem too, but above all, my blog is just that, MY blog. So I blog about me and the things I find important and when I don’t have anything to say, I don’t blog.

  2. Hey, don’t get discouraged- I love reading your blog updates! You should check out Attic24.typepad.com. I found her blog a few months ago and love it. I think you’d really like it too and you’ll see that your blog doesn’t have to have a single focus. Hope the little lady’s arm is on the mend!
